Horror Move

I hired Vanguard moving Jan of 2024 and told them what exactly included in the move the man I dealt with was Sam and he had quoted me $4450 with them packing everything and the week before they called and did their final review of Items and the price went to $6775 and the day of the move when the company came it was only one man who did not understand English only took half of our furniture and said if the rest of the furniture was to be moved it would approximately $12750 dollars and we were on the road To our new home after arguing with Vanguard for a full week they agreed to the $6775 price but it won’t be delivered for approximately 2 weeks they agreed to help us with the cost of the hotel room never happened when the furniture arrived it was destroyed we had over $5000 in damages some so bad we threw it away We filed insurance claims and photos both to Vanguard and their sub contractor APO out of Arizona and they have acknowledged they received it around the end of September we have had no communications with either of them not even an apology We are senior citizen living on a fixed income and 5000 plus dollars took a real big toll on us so anyone read the reviews because anyone using them will be taken for a real ride and this is why give them a rating of negative infinity also they will tell you not to read the reviews because of one thing or another but it’s all true so like they say buyer beware

Broken and missing items from Delivery!!!!

Do not hire this Company !!!!

They broke

many items when arrival from Florida to Arizona Never did I have such a terrible situation with a moving Company!

They also came to my house with the truck half full with other peoples things !!!!

When I ordered a complete truck for our house not Apartment!!! Not sharing a truck!!!

Half my stuff I had to give to my neighbor because it wouldn’t fit in the truck that was ordered by us for only our delivery not sharing with someone else that was never discussed with me!

I wouldn’t have gone with this Company in that situation ,or ever again in my life after all the things they broke and kept telling me to send the papers to their ClaimsDept.

I did with pictures attached and never got even a phone call or a reimbursement!!! This Company needs to be banned from working with peoples things cause all they do is mishandle my things and broke them beyond repair!!!

Long-distance move from Farmington, UT to Atascadero, CA

Move from Salt Lake to Central CA

They deserve a ZERO. The initial quote was literally Half of what I was charged. The initial contact who gets your "deposit" and signature on move was sleazy and was more like a used car sales person just to get the order and signature. The movers came to pick my things up and wouldn't start moving into Van until I agreed to pay double the quote. They said it was misquoted and the load was larger than expected. They have you hostage. Had to fight with main office. The movers didn't speak English very well (or they alleged). There are 3 different companies involved in moving your things. At drop off, they wouldn't accept a cashiers ck payable to Vanguard because movers are a different company with a different name. They needed my signature again to be able to accept the ck and needed to go to Staples at 7 at night to get paperwork. Couldn't back out of driveway with the load, so unloaded my things in driveway (poor parking job), then still couldn't get out of drive to get paperwork so brought things inside. Long story longer, they got stuck in driveway because they miscalculated the slope of driveway. The movers were very unprofessional and not a part of the Vanguard company. They must outsource their movers to any jokers who are available to pick things up. They dropped and broke my office desk. Not reputable at all. BEWARE!!!!

Long-distance move from Santa Fe, NM to Antioch, TN

Worst company ever

-5 stars Do not hire this company. Hired them to move from NM to TN after the death of my father, based on the low cost I was quoted. I should have just hired a UHaul and some locals to do the work for me. Price was more than double what I was quoted. Guaranteed that the one driver would deliver by that weekend, wrong! Different driver, who didn't speak English, showed up with a partial load 2 weeks later, items broken, items missing. When the complete load showed up 2 weeks after the first load, I'm talking business days not regular 14 days later, more items broken or missing and then I can't file a claim because no claim form was ever sent. A year later I still can't find items. When my belongings were delivered only the driver and one other person showed up at 6 pm then tried to charge me more for the delivery and threatened to charge more if they had to store my items.

I had many antique pieces that are beyond repair now because of their ineptitude.

You're better off using Uhaul and placing an ad on Craigslist for someone to help than hire this company. If I could I'd give them stars I would.

Zero Stars

I wish I could give zero stars honestly. The representative told me all of these lies and when it was time to move they charged me 2xs the amount that I was told. Even before the company came to pick up my things, I reached out to see if I was able to adjust some of the items to make my list smaller. They added way more items that i even had, for the movers to come and say I was using more space than what they scheduled for. This was insane because I had significantly less items than what they put on the BOL. When I called, they chalked it up to the fact that the rep. I spoke with was new & didn’t know any better. HOW does that help me in anyway?? I had to come out of pocket and spend even more. That’s not even the worst of it. They told me that everything they took apart they would put back together. Of course, THAT WAS A LIE. not only did they not put the items back together, they also delivered a broken dresser. Which is the hugest inconvenience. Moving across country is stressful enough without having a moving company that lies and takes money. After all of this I asked for a manager to call and to this day I was not contacted. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. They’re not reliable & have terrible customer care.

RUUUNNNN!

Please Please Please.. Do not use this company. If your looking for an easy professional smooth transaction for your move DONT USE VANGUARD MOVING COMPANY! Vanguard charged us and stood back, to count your money. They were reckless and nonchalant. They are money hungry and will not help you once they have your money. Here’s the process: You call Vanguard, They quote and sell you to any random moving company that isn’t vetted or reviewed by customers, ours was Bravo! Then, when an issue arises they take no responsibility and say we’re not responsible for anything, check your contract which was blank and they had to resend. We were quoted and when the movers came, the prices went up. Like jeopardy; VANGUARD SAYS: it’s not on them look at the contract. We were charged elevator fees, a fee to rent another vehicle because they used an 18 wheeler and didn’t do they’re due diligence when we submitted our delivery address for a quote. VANGUARD SAYS: not on them, go look at the fine print. So after a missed flight, broken furniture, a 21 day delay because they had no one to deliver after accepting the job and CHARGED FOR EVERY FOOT WALKED TO THE TRUCK, an extra hidden costs of $1600.00 that’s in the fine print and not disclosed during purchase. BUYERS BEWARE YOUR QUOTE WILL DOUBLE AND VANGUARD WILL NOT RECTIFY IT OR YOUR BROKEN ITEMS. So after reading this and paying them, what’s the one thing VANGUARD SAYS:????? Not on us, and look at the fine print. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Vanguard is a crap broker

Vanguard is a broker. They are horrible to work with, their sales person Samuel was very kind. He booked me for October 27th (with a backup of the 28th). He assured me it would be a worst-case scenario with a pickup window of 8 am-noon.

I called Vanguard on the week of the 24th to verify that everything was on track. At that time, they told me it would be the 27th OR the 28th, and the agent I spoke to said she would call the carrier and let them know we'd prefer the 27th. I thanked her and hung up. Two days later (the 26th), I called to verify and was told 'there were no notes from my phone call two days prior and it would be the 28 bc the carrier couldn't do the 27th'. That's not great; I asked if there was anything to do—hard no from Vanguard.

Come the 28th, we called and verified the time window and were assured the carrier would still be here between 8 am and noon at the latest. The carrier had a delay, and now it's 2 pm-5 pm.

Moving is stressful enough, and every single call with Vanguard after sales was horrible. They kept saying, 'if we needed the 27th, we should have booked it, and there are no notes stating X, Y, Z, you signed this, that, and the other.' There was zero customer service or empathy. When my fiance was on the phone trying to explain how we were now in a screwed-up situation because we still had to drive 7-8 hours today, the woman was condescending and rude. From the kitchen, I asked why she was being a bitch to him, and she heard me, told my fiance he'd have to call back and talk to someone else, and hung up.

Once we got in touch with the carrier, they let us know Vanguard never called them or even tried to book us for the 27th. The carrier HAD availability that day and could have moved us then. We just kept getting told by Vanguard how this was our fault, how we should have done that, or the other.

I have call logs for every call I made to them; the women at the call center lack empathy and service skills; they only want your money and do not offer any help when things go array. They say to you that you signed X.

Moving is highly stressful, especially when moving 1400 miles and buying your first home. They honestly do not care at all about their customers. Since they're just a broker, I'd recommend staying away from them at all costs. Go with someone else, even if it's slightly more expensive. When you're in the business of moving people, it is in their best interest to have people who are naturally gifted with soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and empathy, something everyone at Vanguard lacks.

Long-distance move from Ashland, KY to Dothan, AL

Bait and Switch

I wish I could give zero stars honestly. The representative told me of their low cost moving & that “We are your preferred moving company” but when it was time to move, they charged me 2 X’s the amount that I was told. Driver told me that He would be the one that would be delivering my goods in (2) days - WRONG!! They unloaded the original truck load and placed in another truck and showed up a week later with several items damaged. Meanwhile, my Wife & I hurried to our new location to be there for the driver that never showed.-No bed and/or furniture for a week. I called to find out where my stuff was and was told they should be delivered within 10 to 14 business days. As for the damaged furniture, I didn’t even bother to file a claim with them, due to the fact I had already lost my trust and assurance with this company. We decided to take our losses and to never use this company again. I Would NOT recommend this organization to anyone.

This company is trash

Get rid of all your stuff and avoid the hassle of dealing with this company. It would be more productive to light all your money on fire because every phone call means that the price estimate has gone up. Then when the movers get there, it's still more money down the drain. If you need to get an update about the whereabouts of your belongings, look elsewhere because all you'll get from this company is a shrug and reassurance that they will follow up with you...they will never follow up with you.
